IOLMaster is a product of Carl Zeiss Meditec (Dublin, CA) that is used to measure the eye for proper implantation of an IntraOcular Lens (IOL) power. There are many factors that affect the accurate power calculation such as the corneal curvature, axial length, anterior chamber depth, effective lens position and others. IOLMaster has revolutionized the world IOL calculation with its capabilities.
IOL Master was first to use partial coherence interferometry and allow for a much more accurate measurement of the axial length of the eye. This allowed for a nearly 10 time greater resolution in measurement.
Many of these facets are discussed in the following pages and there will be more coming in the near future.
